the Inaugural Speech

eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth. Book/CDs by Michael. And let every other power know that this hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. (applause) So to all Americans in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, from ocean to ocean, hear these words: You will never be ignored again. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted - for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act - not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. We will face challenges, we will confront hardships, but we will get the job done.
